NOVEMBER PRAYER FOCUS: Pray that God will call pastors and leaders from among second-generation intercultural churches and for His anointing on second-generation ministries.
AFRICA
BURKINA FASO: Pray for the health of Alliance missionaries in Burkina Faso. Illness is hitting them hard. Pray for rest and recovery for those who are ill.
Praise God for improved health in the Oberg household! Pray for renewed energy and a complete recovery, as the Obergs are still feeling very run down. Pray that they will get caught up on all their responsibilities, especially for Bonnie with the bookkeeping and children’s schooling.
Praise God for the five people who were baptized in Ndorola recently! The church roof also was safely built; thanks to those who prayed!
Pray for Kevin Oberg and Toby Hull as they make final preparations for a seminar they will be giving in conjunction with their evangelism trips. These seminars are intended to encourage and motivate the existing believers to becoming personally involved in evangelism and discipleship. The first one will take place in Banzon, right after Thanksgiving. Pray for God’s blessing and anointing.
Pray for God’s blessing on Dorcas House, a home for young women in need. Pray that the water pump will be installed soon. Pray that the girls and staff will get along well and that the teaching the girls receive there will impact their lives and futures. Pray that the staff and teachers will be godly examples to the girls and develop good relationships with them. Pray against illness and personality clashes as they all live together.
Pray for a young man who has come to a point in his life where he can no longer argue against the truth of the gospel but is still reluctant to accept Christ. Pray that he will receive Jesus and be freed from the bondage of Satan.
REPUBLIC OF THE CONGO: Pray for team member Barb Sorensen as she transitions back to the States for her six-month home assignment. Also, pray for her as she meets with her doctor this week regarding upcoming foot surgery. Pray for wisdom for the surgeons.
Pray for the safe arrival of a large shipment of books in Brazzaville from Abidjan. The process has been ongoing since July.
Pray for wisdom for next week’s team meetings in Pointe Noire. Several meetings will take place involving the IM team, CAMA staff, and several national church leaders.
Pray for members of BREAD (the relief arm of the national church) as they begin their strategic planning workshop.
SENEGAL: Pray that Alliance workers will grow in love and unity during the next week as they attend a special team-building event.
Pray for Brian and Michelle Davis as they continue to learn the language so that they can share the good news.
Pray for Scott, a student at Dakar Academy, who has started physical therapy for his partially torn ACL. Pray for complete healing. Pray for seniors at Dakar who are busy filling out college applications and getting all their forms into schools. Pray for guidance for each of them.
ASIA/PACIFIC
CAMBODIA: Pray for God’s blessing on a short-term team from Bridgeway Alliance Church and the U.S. C&MA National Office in Colorado Springs, November 21–December 6. Pray for safe travel, good health, protection, unity, and a fruitful time of ministry. Pray also for political stability and that team members will have opportunities to encourage believers who have come under heavy persecution. Pray for safety in construction projects and healing for team members who have been sick recently. Pray that all team members will follow God’s leading.
The situation concerning the Thai border is not settled yet, but things have quieted down a lot. Continue to pray for those who are being persecuted. Pray also for protection from the floods that caused major damages to crops just weeks before harvesting time. The church families at Olahong Village and Malay areas have suffered great loss as the heavy rains and floods destroyed the crops. Pray for God’s provision.
Pray for Julie Toivola as she trains Sunday school teachers on November 29. Also, pray for Julie as she has begun studying the first level course of TEE with Khmer students at the dorm where she teaches. Pray that through this course, she will be able to increase her language abilities while developing good relationships with the Khmer students.
INDONESIA: Continue to pray for a national worker who suffers from blood clots in his brain. Medication was unable to clear them, and he was scheduled for surgery last week. Pray for God’s healing touch and financial provision for this expensive operation.
Pray for Rev. Krido, professor and director of wholistic studies at Simpson Theological College (STTS), as he continues his studies toward a master’s in wholistic ministries.
Praise the Lord for a great Alliance Marriage Encounter Weekend November 7–9. The response by the couples was encouraging, and even the weather cooperated. Thanks to all who prayed!
JAPAN: Praise God for new families who have come to Kawaguchi Church, including two that have teenage children. Pray for these young people as they have joined the church youth group. Pray that they will follow Jesus in their daily lives, and pray for the youth group as it ministers in the church.
Pray for an outreach at Kawaguchi Church on November 30 that will focus on bringing many new seekers into contact with the love of Jesus.
Pray for the Tokyo area Alliance Men’s rally on November 22. Pray that many men will take part in this opportunity for spiritual nurture, encouragement, and fellowship. Pray for the Chiba Alliance Church men who have been burdened to begin this ministry as they lead the rally.
Pray for evangelism ministries going on in universities and in Alliance neighborhoods. Pray for God’s Holy Spirit to move across Japan bringing revival and firm commitments to follow Jesus.
THAILAND: Praise God that a new group of women came to the Lord on November 6 in the Sawang Daen Din Prison.
Pray for Nhiako and Doua as they disciple groups of believers in five different villages. Also, pray for them as they train three men and one woman using the Center for Leadership Development curriculum. Pray for growth of the church among the Kui people. Pray for funds to assist the Baan Dom church in renovating their building which is literally falling apart.
Praise God the building renovations have been going well and are just about finished. We have had good participation from our members on the Saturday work days. We have begun to use the new building for our mid-week fellowship meeting and Friday prayer meeting.
Pray for the evangelistic Christmas outreach at Ed and Sue Danneker’s church on December 28. Pray for God’s leading with all the plans and preparation. Pray for prepared hearts as the Dannekers invite the many friends and relatives to whom they have been witnessing. The Mahapawn New Vision Church (the first daughter church that Ed and Sue helped plant five years ago) will be sending a team to help with this outreach. Pray that many will come to know the Savior that day.
Pray for Larry Persons as he travels south in mid-November. Pray that he will be an encouragement to the new center at the Muangthai church in Lam Kaen and that he will have wisdom as he interviews potential students and talks with the pastor at the Pak Ping Church. Continue to pray for Larry as he struggles with low energy levels and motivation. Pray that God will lead as to how he should take a time away to recover and will renew his strength.
Pray for Nancy Persons as she puts in long days at the Agape Children’s Home Wednesdays and Thursdays. She is presently reorganizing the home’s medical files. Pray that she will have good judgment as a nurse and that she will be full of God’s love for the children daily.
Praise the Lord for nine people who accepted the Lord through the Church Partnership Evangelism program! Pray that these people will become a part of their local churches and grow in their new understanding of the Lord.
Pray for Michael McCombs and Louisa Spagnolo as they prepare for and take a government exam on November 29.
Pray for the Paton family as they anticipate the arrival of their fifth child the end of this month. Continue to pray for the Paton’s language students as they complete requirements for studies and reach out to people around them to share the love of the Lord.
Pray for wisdom for Carol Strong as she manages the Alliance guest home and oversees a fulltime staff of 16 Thai workers. Pray that those who have not yet believed in Christ will be drawn to him. Pray for adequate finances to replace aging air-conditioners and to purchase a new water pump and/or tanks to increase the guest home water pressure.
EUROPE/MIDDLE EAST
BALKANS: Pray for men from the national church as they participate in their church’s first missions trip. Pray for unity on the team, an outpouring of the Holy Spirit on these men, and spiritual fruit from their evangelism efforts.
Pray for the men in discipleship. Pray that God will give one of them the vision to lead a study with the next group of men. Also, pray for Naim as he leads the group.
Pray for God’s blessing on plans for an international Christmas Eve service and other ministries this season. Pray for grace and peace in believers’ communities as these details are worked out.
Pray that the student visa paperwork for an Alliance worker will be processed quickly and that the Lord will provide the funds for her study program in England.
GERMANY: Praise God! Ben and Sarah Carey and family received their visas. Thanks to all who prayed!
RUSSIA: Pray for Jason and Carolina Kochsiek on home assignment. Pray for safe travel and that they will be able to find affordable housing in southern California.
Pray that Carolina Kochsiek will have a smooth pregnancy despite several health issues that have been draining for her. She has been diagnosed with both carpel tunnel syndrome and sciatica. Pray that the pain associated with these will subside, as well as good health for the rest of the pregnancy until the baby is born in mid-February.
Pray for the visa situation in Russia and for a solution to be found that will allow missionary families to return to Russia following home assignment.
Pray for a national worker who was attacked recently by two men using a taser gun. In the struggle to escape, she fell and broke her leg. In addition, she suffered nerve damage in her ear. Pray for complete healing and for God’s comfort.
Pray for Ron Priest who has been battling an acute tonsil infection. Pray for wisdom in the next course of action. The doctor at the International Medical Clinic has ordered another regiment of a different antibiotic. Pray that it will be effective.
Pray for Steve Lovell and the national church leader with whom he is working as they prepare a proposal by early December. It deals with the overhaul of the missions fund and is to be presented to the national church board of managers.
Pray for Wendy Lovell’s preparations for her classes this coming summer. Starting the home school process again will take up much of Wendy’s time.
Pray for a team that is making plans for a church-planting project in South Ossetia some time in the next six months. Pray that the Lord will bring good out of the war.
SPAIN: River of Hope Chinese Alliance Church in Madrid is reaching out to Chinese immigrants. This growing congregation is pastored by missionaries John and Lorraine Young. Pray for the Youngs as they seek to raise up and train leaders for this congregation.
Several missionaries are on home assignment and are currently ministering in missions conferences: Joel and Nancy Martinez, Tim and Marilyn Westergren, and Betsy Blanchard. Pray for safe travel, protection, and God’s anointing on their ministry.
LATIN AMERICA
ARGENTINA: Pray for missionary apprentice Lindsay Burton, who is returning to the States on November 24 due to her mother’s illness. Lindsay’s mother, Karen Burton, has been battling cancer for four years. Pray for Lindsay and her family in these difficult days. Pray that she will be able to return to Argentina soon to complete her apprenticeship program. She is working with the Buenos Aires Professional Project team in Buenos Aires.
Pray for the office secretary, Terry Bentley, as she shoulders the responsibilities of the Argentina field office while Jon and Judy Grames are on home assignment. This includes field finances and all legal issues. Pray that a duplicate copy of her national identity document (important for legal tasks) will be ready soon. She applied for the duplicate copy about a year ago.
Praise the Lord for a child who responded to the invitation to receive Christ when Judy Grames shared an Argentine child’s testimony with the Sunday school of the Chinese Alliance Church in State College, Pennsylvania, during home assignment. Pray that this child will truly understand the gospel and follow the Lord the rest of her life. Also, pray that the church will be able to faithfully disciple her.
BRAZIL: This past weekend the Billy Graham Association was on Brazilian national TV for three nights sharing the gospel message. Many watched the programs. Pray that those who made decisions will truly follow Jesus and become part of a local church. Several English students and other contacts of Alliance missionaries watched the programs. Pray that the Lord will continue to touch their hearts.
Pray for missionaries as they begin to turn over their responsibilities in the church. Pray that the transition will go smoothly.
On November 22 a Praise Service will be held with four Alliance churches. It is also the time that the Renickses will say good-bye to many friends. Pray that it will be a wonderful time of praising the Lord for what He has done.
On November 29, a Hawaiian luau will be held for couples. Pray that the invited couples will feel the love of God and other Christians.
Continue to pray for health and strength for the Renickses as they prepare for their departure on December 15.
CHILE: Praise the Lord for more than 50 women who attended the Women’s Encounter last Saturday. Many have expressed appreciation for the testimonies of God’s love throughout the day. Pray for the renewal meeting this Saturday that God will continue the work He began in the women’s lives. In addition, pray that they will be positive witnesses to their families.
Thanks to all who prayed for 15 couples who attended the recent Marriage Encounter! Presently, the couples are attending the growth group. Pray especially for a couple that is having difficulty attending the group due to their schedule. Pray that they will grow in their relationship with God.
Praise the Lord for 18 youth who attended a camp in southern Chile. Pray for Bob Hepokoski as he continues to work with the youth in the church.
ECUADOR: Continue to pray for José Plaza’s grandson, Federico, who has leukemia and needs a bone marrow transplant. Pray that God will open doors for this procedure to be done or that He will heal Federico without human intervention.
Pray for healing for Pat Brown, who has been struggling with breathing problems.
UNITED STATES
GREAT LAKES DISTRICT: Pray for Janell Meyers’ cousin, Mark. He has a staphylococcus infection, which has caused weakness, paralysis, and a spinal infection, and today he had a heart attack. Pray for his wife, Lori, and his family. Pray for God’s healing hand to move quickly over him. Janell is the wife of John Meyers, who pastors Acts 29 Fellowship in Hamtramck
MIDAMERICA DISTRICT: Bill Keller, pastor of Missionary Alliance Church, Blairsburg, Iowa, passed away November 15, after a long battle with cancer. Pray for Bill’s wife, Julie, and two children, Andrew and Leah.
NEW ENGLAND DISTRICT: Pray for complete healing for Brian Fullerton, pastor of Gateway Alliance Church in Plymouth, New Hampshire, who has cancer in various parts of his body. Despite his physical weakness, the Lord continues to give him divine strength while he is preaching. Pray for Brian, his wife, and four boys.
NORTHEASTERN DISTRICT: Rev. Stephen J. Hall, pastor at Franklin, New York, has requested prayer for his wife, Kathy, who fell at Houghton College. She dislocated and broke her right ankle.
ROCKY MOUNTAIN DISTRICT: On Friday, November 7, Zootown Brew opened its doors for a grand opening in downtown Missoula, Montana. An estimated 250 people came in to enjoy a cup of coffee, the art display, or the band that played that evening. This coffee shop opening is the start of a church plant among the downtown business district and college traffic area of this bustling small city. Scott Klaudt is the church planter and current coffee shop manager. Pray for God’s blessing on this ministry. Pray for a good customer base and a caring environment that will draw people who don't know Jesus. Pray for good employee relations and for Scott to learn how to balance coffee shop management and church launch preparation with family responsibilities. Pray also that the investment of money, time, and effort will all reap eternal rewards.

Pray for a special Thanksgiving outreach event on November 22. It is a follow-up activity related to an English camp, and parents of the children from the camp will be invited. Pray that many will receive Jesus.
